Swim Week 2017

July 31, 2017

Cheers to another Swim Week that has come and gone!  Every year people flock to Miami Beach for a lineup of fashion shows and parties showcasing the upcoming Spring swim & resort wear collections.  For me, this was my 4th official Swim Week but my 2nd attending as a blogger. Unlike previous, this year’s events spread throughout the city and even made it all the way to Brickell.

I kicked off the week at MIAMI Magazine‘s 9th Annual Splashion at Nikki Beach.  Besides the tasty bites & cocktails, the night featured a sneak peek from brands like Indah, an appearance from the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, and ended with an epic dance party by Miami’s own DJ Irie

The next two days brought me back to my old stomping ground at the SLS South Beach for Planet Fashion TV‘s opening night & main event. They featured presentations by Roberto Cavalli, Versace, OMG Swimwear, & more. The highlight of these nights beside the awesome displays was dining at my old venues Bazaar & Katsuya.

By Saturday, I was ready to tap out but luckily I didn’t!  It brought a refreshing change of scene starting off with the Acacia show (pictured in gallery above) and Bollare.  We were treated to delicious cocktails and breathtaking views atop the 1111 rooftop. Beside the collection what I loved most was the diversity in women modeling with natural hair, curves and more.  This trend continued at SWIM Miami‘s Sports Illustrated Show where the message of body positivity was loud and clear. There for the first time in 4 years I saw the most stunning plus-size models rip the runway.  To top it all off at the end the designer & model jumped off the runway and into the pool at W South Beach making this one of the most fun shows I had the pleasure of viewing.

Thank you to all the hosts who extended the opportunity to attend these shows as press.  Until next year…

xo Sincerely Shanti
