At the beginning of the year, I shared how I wanted to transition to a more minimalistic lifestyle. How am I doing? I’ve made quite a bit of progress with my living space and just need to find the perfect accent pieces. However, I’m still not where I want to be for my capsule wardrobe goal. With the start of Spring, earlier this week, it’s the perfect time to re-visit the items I couldn’t let go and share some tips for some spring cleaning!
Everything! From your ceilings, walls, shelves, refrigerator coils, and anything else you can think of. Work from top to bottom so everything settles on the floor & wear a mask so you aren’t inhaling dust particles.
Declutter your bathroom & refrigerator by discarding expired beauty & food items. But don’t stop there if you have old electronics, furniture, etc. in other areas of your home it’s the perfect time to get rid of those too. Depending on where you live you can bring the items to a bulk trash facility, schedule a pickup, or you can just put it on your curb on bulk trash day.
For items in mint condition, you can donate and receive a tax deduction. (Some organizations to donate to in my last post here!) I’ll be taking the items I moved to the back of my closet & still haven’t worn to donate and get closer to my goal! Have a little entrepreneurial spirit? Post some flyers and set up a yard sale. One man’s trash is another’s treasure so if you can get rid of those items & make some money it’s a win for everyone!
The Journey Continues…
Last but not least, what I love most about this transition to minimalism is getting to see my personal growth and how far the world has evolved as I go through my stuff. So set up a day for a little self-discovery of your own, tackle those dust bunnies/clutter, and let’s continue on the path to a better you!
xo Sincerely Shanti
