The Diplomat Beach Resort has done it again! Last weekend I got to experience the grand opening of their latest restaurant Monkitail, a Japanese concept by celeb chef Michael Schulson. Growing up in South Florida I’ve got to see the resort continue to transform & reinvent itself. The aesthetic and ambiance of the new lobby leading into the restaurant is definitely a wow-factor and makes you forget you’re dining at a resort.
Their cocktails feature twists on classic cocktails along with some interesting concoctions. Between my S.O. and I, we tried the Dragon, Grilled Peach Mojito (his fav.), and Lavender Sour (my fav!). They also have a pretty great selection of sake, wine, and beer by the glass or bottle.
When it comes to food, sharing is caring over at Monkitail. Guests have the option of ordering a la carte from the menu or selecting the Chef’s Tasting Menu. I highly recommend the tasting menu option which allows you to try a good portion of the menu. How it works…You’ll select 1 item per each menu category for a total of 10 selections + dessert for $65 per person.
Must have items are the Duck Scrapple Bao Bun & Bacon Yakisoba, and the Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sushi dessert! After such a tasty meal, we got a sneak peak of the Nokku Lounge, their super chic hidden karaoke lounge. There you can sing your heart out for the entire bar or reserve a private room for your squad.
All in all, we had a great time rediscovering Diplomat and will definitely be back soon!
